Nicola is the Operations Manager for Dublin City Council’s Smart City Unit; part of the regional Smart Dublin initiative.
After 10+ years in public administration, Nicola has been part of the Smart Dublin team since its launch in 2016. Although, initially focusing on driving the open data agenda and other data initiatives across the four Dublin local authorities; Nicola was also Dublin Pilot Lead as part of an EU H2020 project. She has secured funding and managed the roll out of pre-commercial procurement challenges under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) partnership with Enterprise Ireland and has collaborated with Mastercard as part of the City Possible public-private partnership programme. Nicola’s current role includes the establishment of a new smart district; a testbed for new cutting edge technologies located across the campus of one of Dublin’s largest universities.

I love engaging with other cities, sharing ideas and knowledge, learning from their experiences and exploring new collaborations with stakeholders from across multidisciplinary sectors. I am really excited to have been recently appointed to the European Commission Assembly under the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission Board and look forward to the opportunity to be involved in Europe’s future innovation and research agenda.”
