In the 1st Expo - Congress “BUSINESS FOR SMART CITIES” took part 140 speakers from 30 countries, including:
  • 26 representatives of international organizations (EBRD, IFC,  Global Infrastructure Hub, UNECE, HABITAT, UN Global Compact),
  • 49 representatives of public authorities,
  • 65 representatives of private business.

In the framework of the 2nd Expo - Congress “BUSINESS FOR SMART CITIES” is is planned to invite international experts, regional leaders and heads of start-ups and multinational companies, the most successful projects and solutions for Smart Cities.

Daan Groenink
Innovation officer, City of Amsterdam

Daan studied Business Adminstration and holds a Master degree in Digital innovation. After leaving the VU university, Daan started working on several projects within the virtual reality domain. While doing some of the projects in the public sector, he started to gain interest in adding more value to society.

Today Daan is developing initiatives that can improve a citizen’s customers journey, especially in terms of safety & security. In a public-private partnership he is trying to find the right improvements that can aid to the livability of the city. His aim is to create a ‘livable’ city. Not only by introducing physical assets, but also to explore the digital world and its applications in a urban environment. Daan is always trying to find the right balance between the different aspects that innovation brings along. In the end, it is about finding the right effective solution while taking all the different aspects such as feasibility, privacy and ethics into account.
