Angelika Winkler studied urban planning at the Vienna University of Technology and completed a master’s degree in Political Management at the FH Campus in 2014.
Since 1993 she has held various positions in the City of Vienna Municipal Council, and since 2001 also in leading positions.
Today, she is the Deputy Head of the Municipial Department of Urban Development and also Head of the Devision for Mobility Strategies. Her work focuses on strategic planning in the mobility sector for all modes of transport, from subway and tram to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. However, new topics such as smart city, energy, logistics and new forms of mobility (car sharing, electromobility, mobility on demand …) are becoming more and more important. Especially at the interface of mobility planning and urban development, it pursues the goal of optimizing the „city“ system with integrated planning approaches.
