Sergii Varga is currently serving for the UNDP as a Project Manager of UNDP/GEF “Removing Barriers to Increase Investment in Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in Ukraine through ESCO modality in Small and Medium Sized cities”. Sergii Varga works in Sustainable Development and Environment Portfolio on energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable development of municipalities in Ukraine. Earlier Sergii managed UNDP/GEF Project “Transforming the Market to Energy-Efficient Lighting”. Sergii has extensive work experience in different areas and sectors of economy, including energy sector (“Naftogaz”, “Gas of Ukraine”) public service positions (Ministry of Finance), consultancy and international organizations. Thanks to valuable practical experience in cooperation with different stakeholders on designing demonstration pilot projects, educational and EE promotion events, organizing pilot projects in different regions of Ukraine, Sergii gained valuable experience in strategic analysis of different areas of sustainable development, including analyzing lessons learned from various projects. Sergii has Ph.D. in Economics, Masters in Finance and Credit and numerous trainings, including CDM/JI projects validation and verification, economic forecasting etc.
